The national peak industry organisation for the plant science sector welcomes the appointment of Senator the Hon Murray Watt as Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. CropLife Australia also welcomes the Hon Ed Husic as Minister for Industry and Science and the Hon Ms Tanya Plibersek as Minister for the Environment and Water, portfolios that are equally important to our industry.
Senator Watt has a shown a long and significant interest in Australia’s agricultural sector and has previously served as a member of the Senate Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Committee.
CropLife Australia’s Chief Executive Officer, Matthew Cossey, said, “CropLife Australia and our members congratulate Senator Watt on his appointment to the important role of Minister for Agriculture.
“The CropLife team looks forward to working with the new Minister to ensure Australia’s agriculture industry remains a world-leader and continues to grow to reach the target of being a $100 billion industry by 2030.
“A passionate and committed Minister is needed to give the Australian farming sector the support it needs to tackle the major challenges ahead.
